On Memorial Day weekend, the Nonantum Children’s Christmas Party Association (NCCPA) proudly participated in both the Newton Memorial Day Parade on Sunday, May 25th, and the Watertown Memorial Day Parade on Monday, May 26th. At each parade, we brought 20 commemorative floats, helping to honor the sacrifices of our nation’s heroes. Some of this year’s floats included tributes to POW/MIA, Pearl Harbor, and the Afghanistan Memorial, which honors the 13 U.S. service members killed in Kabul in 2021. These displays serve as moving reminders of the courage and sacrifice shown by those who serve.
For many years, NCCPA has worked closely with the City of Newton and the Newton Veterans Services Officer to help plan and organize the Newton Memorial Day Parade. This ongoing partnership ensures that the event is both meaningful and respectful, engaging the community while paying tribute to those who gave their lives in service to our country. Our participation in both parades is a deeply rooted tradition and a sincere expression of gratitude.
None of this would be possible without the tireless efforts of our approximately 40 volunteers, who devoted their weekend to building, preparing, and decorating floats, coordinating logistics, and cleaning up afterward—culminating with packing everything into storage on Monday. We’re incredibly thankful for their commitment and community spirit. Here’s to many more years of remembrance, reflection, and unity.
